“Tales of the Sea” is an exciting project for the conservation of the marine environment, which shares our philosophy and collaborative spirit, to which we join with the illusion of contributing our grain of sand: everything counts.Because the support of large and small is essential to achieve:

BIG CHANGES
WITH SMALL ACTIONS

The turtles recovered and released into the sea, whom we have called Springfield and Reconsider, carry a GPS device that allows us to track them through a satellite signal, thus allowing us to study their habits in their natural environment.

With this project we seek to raise awareness and make our small contribution to the environment, giving visibility to the work of different foundations for the conservation of our seas and the living beings that inhabit them.

The project, in which Springfield participated hand in hand with the Fundación Oceanogràfic and the Fundación Plastic Free, with the collaboration of the Xávea City Council and Aqualung, aimed to clean the Granadella beach in Xávea and its seabed, with the help of volunteers, and the subsequent release of two turtles recovered in the Oceanographic Conservation program.

Sea turtles, in addition to being very charismatic animals, are very useful as an umbrella species for the conservation of the seas, because they arouse sympathy and help cultivate environmental awareness.

These turtles, which can measure up to 120 centimeters long and weigh about 160 kilos, also serve as bioindicators, measuring the impact that marine debris has on their ecosystem.

WHY THE LOGGER TURTLE?

In the last 200 years, loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) have barely nested on the Valencian coast, one of the seven species of sea turtle considered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to be in a dependent or vulnerable situation.Spain seeks that these animals, common in Atlantic and eastern Mediterranean areas, not only feed in its waters, but also nest on its coasts, thus ensuring the conservation of the species in our territory.
